Defective seals cause consumer complaints and product rejection in food packaging. In electronic packaging, defective seals cause early failure and may be safety related. Utilizing our SIV III pouch sealing machine, you can guarantee the best quality control testing. In medical packaging, biological contamination is to be avoided. In most applications the seal must be strong enough to hold but gentle enough to allow easy access. Balancing these factors in a manufacturing environment requires tracking by the numbers. Seal verification provides the numbers by non-destructive testing. Among other sealing machine manufacturers, we're the best!

Designed specifically for the food packaging industry, the S.I.V. III meets the need to evaluate seal integrity in a production line environment through both leak and burst testing capability. The pouch sealing machine processes include: test, decay test, and forced/decay which are all are non-destructive. The burst test or seal strength test are potentially destructive if taken to the burst point. The unique design of the S.I.V. III incorporates a color touch screen PLC to provide both automatic test cycle sequencing and data analysis. GEMCO is among the only sealing machine manufacturers to produce the S.I.V. III.
The programmable color touch screen is the key component in achieving the S.I.V. III design objective. This test machine is extremely simple to operate, yet incorporates the sophisticated state of the art data collection devices required to insure accurate and repeatable test results. S.I.V. III's extremely durable construction utilizes stainless steel and Lexan to meet the demands of the food packaging production line environment and is designed to be portable for convenient in-plant movement.
Acceptable seal leakage parameters established by the user for each of the various food groupings being packaged are programmed into the machine. The operator simply selects the food code or scans the bar code for the packaged products being tested and closes the chamber door to initiate the test cycle.
Lights signal pass or fail at the conclusion of each test. The pouch sealing machine will accurately test the seal of a product in a bag only, or with the bag inside of a box. Seal strength parameters are also pre-programmed into the test cycle. Operator selection of the burst test mode automatically tests the package to insure that it withstands a minimum force without bursting. Optionally the operator can select a test cycle that will burst the seal allowing comparisons such as:
General Methods' newest unit non-destructive seal testing unit, the S.I.V. III (Seal Integrity Verification III). The new SIV III pouch sealing machine features many ease of operation programming. The SIV III new product is CE Certified for sales in the European Market. The SIV III program controls all the valve adjustments needed to create the proper vacuum during the test cycle. The new control test parameters can be downloaded to an SD card and uploaded to other SIV III units. This is the most refined seal integrity unit among and various sealing machine manufacturers.
PLC will store 1000 test results in the memory. The new unit contains a 570 Color Unitronics PLC for easier operation Test results can be read in US imperial measurements or Metric. The food packaging industry depends on the integrity of the seal of the overwrap to preserve the quality of the products it produces. The need for a reliable efficient way to test seal integrity is the direct result of the variables in package making equipment control settings and in film selection.
